- People are an organisation's most important assets
- The tasks of a maanger are essentially people-oriented, no understanding of people, no successful management
2. People management factors
- Consistency : Team members should all be treated in a comparable way without favourites or discrimination
- Respect : Diffenent team members have different skills and these differences should be respected
- Inclusion : Involve all team members and make sure that people's views are considered
- Honesty : You should always be honest about what is going well and what is going badly in a project
3. Lessons
- selection staff : An important project management task is team selection
- Skills such as UI design and H/W interfacing are in short supply
- Introducing new skills to recent graduates
- Technical proficency may be less importnat than social skills

5. Motivating people
- Motivation is a complex issue, there are different types of motivation based on : Physical need, personal needs(respect, self-esteem), social needs(team spirits)
6. Personality types
- Motivation should also take into account different personality types :
1) Task oriented : motivated by task itself
2) Self oriented : motivated by achieving self-objective
3) Interaction oriented : motivated by co-work
