본 포스트는 개인 스터디 용으로 작성된 Ian Sommerville의 Software Engineering, 8/E의 요약본입니다.7. Managing groups
- Most S/W engineering is a group activity
- Factors influencing group working
1) group composition : Balance of the personality types is important(especially, people with interaction-oriented personality. They can detect and defuse tensions)
2) group cohesiveness : Team spirit encouraged through openness with information, social events, developing a group identity and territory, explicit team-building activities
3) group communication : Essential for effective group working. Information must be exchanged on the status of work, design decisions and changes to previous decisions
4) group organisation : Informalities on small S/W engineering group, hierarchical stucture on large group
8. Informal group
- The group acts as a whole and comes to a consensus on decisions affecting the system
- The group leader serves as the external interface of the group but does not allocate specific work items
- Tasks are allocated according to ability and experience
- This approach is successful for groups where all members are experienced and competent
- e.g. Extream programming group
9. Working environments
- The physical workplace provision has an important effect on individual productivity and satisfaction : Comport, privacy, facilities
- Health and safety considerations must be taken into account : Lighting, heating, furniture
10. P-CMM(People Capability Maturity Model)
- is a framework for improving the capabilities of staff in an organisation
- Five stage model
1) Initial : Ad-hoc people management
2) Repeatable : Policies developed
3) Defined : Standardised people management across the organisation
4) Managed : Quantitative goals for people management in place
5) Optimizing : Continuous focus on improving individual competence and workforce motivation
